What is the difference between Rexton and Rexton?
The biggest difference between the original SsangYong Rexton and this new W variant is what’s under the bonnet. Where as the old car had a 2.7-litre Mercedes-Benz derived diesel engine, this updated car uses a 2.0-litre diesel of SsangYong’s own design. It does nothing to make up for the engine’s shortcomings.
Is SsangYong Rexton a 4×4?
The SsangYong Rexton is not one of those city-friendly 4×4 imitators that, while lacking proper off-road capability or a rugged chassis, have ended up in the super-popular SUV class anyway. Why did SsangYong fail?
SsangYong is burdened with high debt, and the company has said its 2020 vehicle sales fell more than 20% from a year earlier to 107,416 vehicles. Its 2020 operating loss widened to 449 billion won ($401.76 million) from 282 billion won a year earlier. Revenue fell 19% to 3 trillion won.
Is Rexton a 4WD?
Rather than being based on a 4WD ute, the SsangYong Rexton is a little different. Although it’s a ladder-chassis 4WD with low-range, diesel power and seating for seven, it puts the chicken before the egg.
