Amitrole is primarily used as a postemergent nonselective herbicide and has a wide spectrum of activity against annual and perennial broad leaf and grass-type weeds. It is approved to be used on soils that are either for noncrop land prior to sowing or for interrow weed control in tree and vine crops.
