Yes you can but the 2gb overage from the 4gb stick will only run in single channel mode.
Can you triple channel with four slots?
Using the 4th slot puts it in to a sort of dual channel mode and you lose about 30% bandwidth performance, but the real world performance impact will often be negligible. The capacity of 4 DIMMs is going to be better than the speed improvements on the capacity of 3 DIMMs for most people.

1. Because that’s the way the slots are wired. 1 & 3 on one channel, 2 & 4 on the other channel. If that’s numbering the dimm slots sequentially going away from the CPU I’m not sure it’s correct if you want a dimm in each channel for dual channel operation.
