Do I need a nitrous blow down tube?
NHRA regulations require that any nitrous bottle mounted inside the cockpit (including the trunk) of a vehicle to have a blow down tube to evacuate the nitrous out of the vehicle. If the bottle pressure reaches 3000 PSI the cap inside of the NHRA fitting opens to relieve the bottle pressure.
How do you know if your nitrous bottle is empty?
The bottle will have pressure even if you don’t have nitrous in it so the pressure gauge idea is out. The only way to tell is when you run out. After a while you’ll start to know how much you can use it before it’s empty. If you really want to know take it out and weight it.
