What is the trigger pull on a Smith & Wesson SD9VE?
Currently, it is around 8-10 lbs but, with a simple mod, that can be reduced to 4-5 lbs. The weight is high because the gun is considered a home defense firearm and they want someone to be determined to pull the trigger.
Can you dry fire a Smith and Wesson SD9VE?
Per S&W customer service, yes. But, it doesn’t hurt to use snap caps. Dry fired both of mine hundreds of times. Not only is it good practice for learning the basics, it really “smooths” out the trigger pull.
Why doesn’t the SD9VE have a safety?
The SD9VE has a little pad molded on both sides of the frame for you to rest the tip of your trigger finger until you are ready to put it inside the triggerguard. The SD trigger pull is long and far from light to add a passive safety dimension. It has a much harder and longer trigger pull than a Glock.
Are SD9 and SD9VE the same?
The front sights are similar, but the SD9 has a front night sight, versus just a white dot on the SD9VE. The SD9VE also has a different, and better, trigger than the SD9. The weight is about the same but the length of pull on the VE is shorter and slightly smoother.
