What was the pig in the New Forest previously called?
Whitley Ridge Lodge
The building’s original name was Whitley Ridge Lodge, with its first occupant being a certain George Bright. The property has survived through the ages as a private residence, becoming a hotel in the 1950s.
Is THE PIG New Forest open?
At THE PIG in the New Forest we have family specific rooms, lodges and cottages. We serve Lunch from 12-2.15pm Monday to Friday, and 12pm-2.30pm Saturday to Sunday. Dinner will be served from 6.30-9.30pm daily. Lunch bookings are advised, however Dinner bookings are essential!

Can dogs stay at the Pig Hotel?
In normal circumstances a 26-bedroom hotel that only allows dogs in one room, and with that one room situated across from the main house in a stable block, wouldn’t make the Hudson’s Choice dog-friendly grade. But The Pig is exceptional in many ways. There are no rooms in the main house that accept dogs.
Do any of the pig hotels have a spa?
There’s no spa at the hotel, just a Potting Shed at the bottom of the walled garden, where therapists come along from Lime Wood to administer treatments.
Where are the pigs in the New Forest?
Bramshaw village located on the North side of the New Forest or near Bolderwood on the South of the New Forest is where you will have the best chance of seeing the pigs during the Pannage season. Like all animals in the New Forest, pigs have right of way on the roads.

Robin Hutson sold the Hotel du Vin group in 2004 Robin Hutson and his business partner Gerard Basset founded the Hotel du Vin group in 1994, but sold it a decade later. Hutson went on to launch The Pig group of hotels seven years ago.
