Turns out one of the endings is that you can team up with Father Elijah and use the cloud and holograms to basically wipe out everyone in the mojave.

When you first meet Dean Domino, let him think he’s the “boss”, and never contradict or criticize him. As long as you pander to his overinflated ego, you can save him.
How do you beat Father Elijah?
You WILL have to endure turret fire while you do this. Then proceed as noted; press against the forcefield as you destroy turrets, eventually falling in as Father Elijah runs out. Elijah hits the charges, you are protected by the forcefield, Elijah dies and you exit with plenty of time to spare.
