Are Wilkinson Telecaster bridges good?
Great tone and sustain. I have tried every kind of bridge and saddle system for this guitar, including the very high quality American Type with individual string adjustments. These compensated barrel-type saddles deliver tone and sustain like no other. I highly recommend them to anyone with a telecaster type guitar.

Just so you know, there are many other Tele bridges out there. Like I said, a bridge will affect your guitar’s tone, playability, and feel, so you might as well invest in quality gear. You’re going to have such a better experience with your axe if you do.

Does a guitar bridge make a difference?
The Bridge Is Crucial In Determining a Guitar’s Feel Although the tension required to bring strings of the same gauge up to pitch is the same, those strung on a Strat-style vibrato or a Bigsby unit will have a slightly looser, spongier feel and be easier to bend than strings on a wrap-over or Tele bridge or similar.
How much tension is on a guitar bridge?
Each string can nominally support around 40% tension, beyond which point it will break. The string is fixed at two ends: at the bridge and the nut. When it vibrates, the string forms an ellipsis whose max width is half its length, the point that corresponds to the 12th fret on stringed instruments.

How do you Intonate a Telecaster?
Setting Intonation on a Tele
- Pick the open string and verify it’s in tune.
- Fret at the 12th fret and pick this note.
- If the 12th fret note is flat, move the saddle forward a little by turning the adjustment screw at the back of the bridge (counter-clockwise) using a flat or philips screwdriver (whatever is appropriate).
How do Telecaster compensated saddles work?
The compensated Tele saddles are slanted to improve intonation, but they may not perfectly intonate every string. If your guitar is set-up to your satisfaction, you will need to take notes on the set-up and use the same gauge of strings to ensure the same playability with the new saddles.
