What is a Hope House?

Hope House provides individualized support to adults with a diagnosis of an intellectual or developmental disability. We support people up to 24 hours a day in their own homes and help them live successfully within the community.

In 1964, a group of parents in Hampton Roads came together to find an alternative to institutionalizing their adult children with developmental disabilities. The result was Hope House — Virginia’s first group home.

In a nutshell, Hope House Children’s Hospices provide specialist nursing care and support to more than 750 children aged 0 to 25 years and their families who live in Shropshire, Cheshire, North and Mid Wales. We provide respite care in our two hospices and in the families’ own homes.
