How do you size a Danner?
Our footwear products are sized according to the Brannock device and are in US sizes. If you are unsure of your size, we suggest getting your foot measured on this device as it will indicate both the length and width of your foot. The Brannock device can be found at most shoe or boot retail stores.
What does the D and EE mean in boot sizes?
Foot Width: Boots are typically available in 6 widths: B (extra narrow), C (narrow), D (regular), E (wide), EE (extra wide), and EEE (triple wide). First, measure the length of your foot to find your base size.
How tight should Danner boots be?
Right out of the box your hiking boots should feel somewhat snug on the sides of your feet (you aren’t sliding side-to-side) with a little room at the toes (you don’t want your toes to touch the tip of the boot just standing on flat ground).

Use warm water to shrink the boots: Fill in a bucket of warm water and immerse your boots in it for an hour. Do the same with your pair of socks. Now wear the socks and the boots while still wet and let them dry on your feet by sitting in the sun. Your boots will shrink and the calf will become tighter anyway.
