Why is my Hayward Vari Flo valve leaking?
Leaking Multiport Valves: If the valve is leaking around the outside of the top its usually the cover o-ring that’s right under the cover. Valve Handle Hard to Turn: If the Handle is hard to turn there could be grit or dirt in the valve or the spider gasket needs to be cleaned or the stem shaft needs to be lubricated.
Why is my multiport valve leaking?
A multiport valve that leaks around the handle means your gaskets are deteriorating or they are out of alignment. Cold water actually makes conditions worse. In cold weather, o-rings shrink or small debris wedge around the stem o-rings, causing leaks.
Why is my pool valve leaking?
The first thing to check is that the system is not under unusually high pressure, from a dirty filter, closed return valves or plugged wall returns. If normal, check that the cover screws are all tight. If it’s still leaking, remove all cover screws and pull out the key assembly.
How do I know if my multiport valve is bad?
One common symptom of multiport valve problems is when there is leaking around the valve itself, or when water comes out of the waste line, even when the valve is set to the FILTER position. Multiport valve problems may also be indicated when dirt fails to be trapped by the filter, instead returning to the pool.
How do I know if my spider gasket is bad?
If your spider gasket becomes worn or torn, or twisted or happens to pops out of the groove in the valve body, this allows water to creep and seep from one port to the next. You may not notice water bypassing the filter, and returning to the pool without being filtered, but this can happen.
Why is water coming out of my backwash?
Water would come out of the backwash line if the spider gasket in the diverter is bad. Although you have a new valve, the spider gasket could already be pinched or damaged. Remember to always turn the valve in the same direction. Going back and forth can cause the gasket to get pinched and then you’ll have leaks.
