How is GORE-TEX tested?
While most GORE-TEX membranes, found attached to the underside of the fabric, are waterproof, if the durable water repellent (DWR) doesn’t let rain bead up and roll off, you’ll probably feel wet. The industry standard for DWR testing is a spray test. That’s just a nozzle that sprays the fabric for half an hour.
Does GORE-TEX really work?
GORE-TEX functions particularly well when you’re sitting in front of a campfire in the evening, or during a long break – times when you’re relatively inactive and aren’t sweating. Does GORE-TEX need Reproofing?
