Those who have nostalgia for Washington’s famed Aplets and Cotlets candies may be heartened to know they’re not going away just yet. Two months after confection maker Liberty Orchards announced it would cease operations by June 1, the 100-year-old company found a buyer that will allow the brand to continue.

In a Facebook post, Aplets and Cotlets, the chewy and iconic Washington confection out of Cashmere, announced they will remain open and continue operations like normal after they were expected to shut down in June.

The candies can be frozen for up to 2 years. To thaw, just bring up to room temperature before serving. We do not recommend freezing any of the chocolate candies. Once a box is opened, the candies dry out fairly quickly, but it helps to store the opened box in a zip-lock or plastic bag to reduce air flow to the candy.
