There are 2 departure points to Fraser Island: River Heads near Hervey Bay, or Inskip Point near Rainbow Beach. There are 3 places you can go to on the island from these departure points – either Hook Point on the southern coast, Kingfisher Bay on the west coast or Wanggoolba Creek on the west coast.

The Kingfisher Bay Ferry has five return services which depart River Heads (20 minutes south of Hervey Bay) daily and land at Kingfisher Bay Resort on the western side of Fraser Island. The resort grounds are accessible by 2WD, however The Great Sandy National Park and villages including Eurong Beach Resort are ONLY accessible by 4WD vehicles.
