What do you do at a blood drive?
The Donation — You’ll be seated comfortably while a pint of blood is drawn. The actual donation only takes 8-10 minutes. Refreshment and Recovery — After donating, you can enjoy a snack and a drink for 10-15 minutes before resuming your day. The entire donation process takes about an hour.

How do I get my LifeStream donor ID?
If you’re a returning donor and you don’t know your Donor ID, you will receive an email after your donation that includes your Donor ID Number. If you’re at a LifeStream donor center or mobile blood drive, you can simply ask a LifeStream staff member for assistance and they can look it up for you.
Can a 14 year old donate blood?
Currently, many states have established a minimum age limit of 16 years for blood donation. 14 In contrast, California allows 15-year-olds to donate, if there is documented parental consent and written authorization of a physician and surgeon.
Can I donate blood with tattoo?
Yes, you can. If you got a tattoo in the last 3 months, is completely healed and was applied by a state regulated entity, which uses sterile needles and fresh ink — and you meet all donor eligibility requirements — you can donate blood!
How do I find my donor ID CSL Plasma?
If you have forgotten your donor ID number, please ask any helpful CSL Plasma staff member the next time you donate. To login to your iGive Rewards account, you need to input your last name, date of birth and last four digits of your donor ID #.
Why can’t o negative donate platelets?
On the other end of the blood spectrum, O-negative donors are strongly discouraged from giving platelets. Just as AB+ is the universal blood type for platelets, O neg is the universal blood type for red cells. Just 7% of the population has O- blood, so that’s why O- donors should always give red blood cells.
