The Boa Fit System is a unique design that integrates a dial, lace, and guide configuration throughout the shoe to achieve the exact fit the athlete needs to perform at his or her best. It was originally developed for use on snowboard boots in 2001 for a safer, more secure, precision fit on the mountains.

Do boa shoes last?
The system is probably going to break eventually (so the guides know they might get 100 river days out of their boots, but they can “retire” the ones with regular laces on their own terms), but the wire is absolutely, dramatically more durable than any fabric laces. Cleaning them just helps them last even longer.
