How do I write “xkcd”? There’s nothing in Strunk and White about this. For those of us pedantic enough to want a rule, here it is: The preferred form is “xkcd”, all lower-case. In formal contexts where a lowercase word shouldn’t start a sentence, “XKCD” is an okay alternative.
How is the password generation algorithm in xkcd?
xkcd’s password generation scheme requires the user to have a list of 2048 common words (log 2 (2048) = 11). For any attack we must assume that the attacker knows our password generation algorithm, but not the exact password. In this case the attacker knows the 2048 words, and knows that we selected 4 words, but not which words.
