Is Meteor Crater worth seeing?
Yes it is just a big hole in the ground. But what a nice meteor crater. The drive to it is beautiful, the crater is cool and the museum and gift shops are better than expected. If you are interested in geology and/or astronomy, it is well worth the trip.
Why is Meteor Crater closed?
As the threat of the Coronavirus has grown in Arizona the Governor has issued a state wide “Stay at Home” Order effective 5PM March 31, 2020. To comply with this order Meteor Crater will be closing indefinitely so that we do our part to protect our visitors and employees.

FYI: You can’t even get a glimpse of it without paying, they have the whole thing fenced in and impossible to see without paying. The Meteor Crater, without question, is a must stop for all those traveling through Northern Arizona.
