Mentors can help you grow a professional network by connecting you to others. Mentors can inspire you and keep you focused.

How much does TN promise cover?

The Tennessee Promise is a “last-dollar” scholarship at community colleges/tech schools, meaning it will cover 100% of tuition after other scholarships/awards (ie, you cannot get reimbursed/make money off of the Tennessee Promise).

How much do mentors charge?

In our experience fees ranging from $50 to $3,000 have been charged, usually depending on the seniority of the cadre of mentors. We suggest that the sweet spot for most association-led programs would be $150-300 per mentee. As well as helping to fund the program, the fee also helps to qualify mentees.

How to apply for the Tennessee Promise program?

In order for current Tennessee high school seniors to participate in the program, they must meet the following requirements and deadlines: Apply for the Tennessee Promise by November 1 at TNPromise.gov. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Southwest application for admission.

When do you have to report community service for TN Promise?

Note: The TN Promise can also cover the cost of a student’s summer classes; however, a student must complete and report eight (8) hours of community service by April 1.

What happens if you fail the Tennessee Promise?

Failure to submit all financial aid requirements will result in the delay or loss of the TN Promise Scholarship. Tennessee Promise does not cover the cost of books, attendance fees or fees associated with a specific program or class. Students will be personally responsible for access codes, program fees and TN eCampus fees.

How many credit hours are required for Tennessee Promise?

Enroll in a minimum 12 or more credit hours each semester. Do not drop below 12 credit hours without first consulting your advisor. Failure to maintain 12 credit hours will likely result in the loss of your Tennessee Promise scholarship.
