Is hiking the Narrows worth it?
The Narrows is, without question, one of the most spectacular hikes in Zion National Park. The “trail” is essentially the Virgin River, which twists and turns through a gorgeous slot canyon less than 20 feet wide in places. Even a short hike in The Narrows is worth it.
Do I need a permit for the Narrows?
Hiking in The Narrows upstream as far as Big Spring does not require a permit. You can hike in the river for an hour and have a great experience, or you can hike as far as Big Spring, a strenuous, ten-mile round trip, all-day adventure.
Can you do Angels Landing and the Narrows in one day?
Yes you can do but it will be tough. Angels landing is a very strenuous hike. Narrows is not strenuous but will take about 3 to 3.5 hours and Angel Landing could take anywhere from 3 to 5 hours. We did angels landing and other hikes one day, and then the narrows the next.
Do you need water shoes for The Narrows?
You’ll want shoes that will drain out the river water so that you don’t hold onto all of the water weight. You can rent special shoes and socks for The Narrows here. Quick-dry clothing — be sure to wear clothing that will dry quickly. Synthetic materials like polyester, nylon, or spandex work well.
