Can you eat in Brookside Gardens?
Food, drink, and picnicking are not allowed in the Gardens. NOTE: Picnic facilities are available nearby at the Shorefield Area of Wheaton Regional Park.
Do you have to pay to go to Brookside Gardens?
Brookside Gardens is Montgomery County’s incomparable, award-winning 50-acre public display garden situated within Wheaton Regional Park. Admission to the gardens is free. Service animals are welcome at Brookside Gardens, but pets are not allowed.

Can you take dogs to Brookside Gardens?
Pets are not allowed with the exception of service animals. Frisbees, bicycles, skateboards, scooters, rollerblades, balls, skates, skis, sleds, and recreational and athletic equipment are not allowed in the Gardens.
Can you take pictures at Brookside Gardens?
Individual photographers are welcome to photograph the plants and gardens of Brookside. No permits are needed, though we ask that you follow the hobby photography guidelines: Do not disturb any gardens, stand on rocks or displays, block paths, or climb garden or fountain walls.
Is alcohol allowed in Montgomery County parks?
Consuming alcoholic beverages at local parks is no longer allowed in select Montgomery County parks as of July 1. The MoCo Eat’s Picnic in the Park Program launched last fall to encourage residents to buy take-out from local businesses and eat at picnic tables throughout the county.
Can you swim at Black Hill Regional Park?
Little Seneca Lake at Black Hill Regional Park is a beautiful place to rent a rowboat, canoe, or kayak and enjoy the outdoors during the warmer months of the year. Swimming is prohibited in the lake.

Wisteria at Brookside Gardens in Late April Just as the tulips start to fade at Brookside, the stunning wisteria starts to bloom! I absolutely adore the smell of wisteria and there’s plenty of it at Brookside. There’s even white wisteria that grows on one of the bridges.
Can you smoke in Montgomery County parks?
Visitors and staff will not be permitted to smoke a cigarette, cigar, pipe or any other lighted tobacco in outdoor parks or venues or indoor facilities. Visitors and staff will not be permitted to use any smokeless products such as chewing tobacco or snuff in all indoor facilities and designated outdoor areas.
How many acres is Brookside Gardens?
Today, Brookside Gardens encompasses 54 acres, with 32 acres of cultivated gardens. There are 29 career staff, 50 part-time staff, and more than 1,000 volunteers.
