What can you do with a Yachtmaster?

How hard is the Yachtmaster exam?
The exam is not quite as tough, for example you are examined for up to only 10 hours as opposed to the 12 hours for Yachtmaster Offshore. Taking the Yachtmaster Coastal provides you with some good exam experience before attempting the Yachtmaster Offshore in the future.

Do you need a boat to take RYA sail exam?
The candidate or a training centre provides the boat and the RYA provides an examiner. Note: All qualifying sea time and passages must be gained on vessels appropriate to the type of exam i.e. gained in sailing vessels for a sail exam and power vessels for a power exam.
