What is a long shifter?
Long shifters use 7/16″ diameter heavy duty rods for more rigidity and less deflection, ensuring a more positive shift.
What is a vgate shifter?
The shifter function is rather simple: a separate rod controls the 1st & 2nd gear, the 3rd & 4th gear, and reverse. Not only will your shifts be more precise, you will be able to shift more quickly, the reason being that the V-Gate shifter eliminates the “H” pattern of a normal shifter.
Is a longer shift knob better?
Weighted shift knobs DO make a difference! Short Shifts and Heavy Knobs Using a short shift increases the amount of effort required to shift and results in rougher shifts. Keep in mind that extensions can result in much longer throws. A tall knob does, however, increase mechanical advantage when shifting.
What happened Bremer shifters?
We have turned our website off for the meantime and stopped production of the current shifter due to long manufacturing lead times, which were unacceptable. We thank those who pre ordered their shifters and persevered with our long delays.
Why do truckers have tall shifters?
A longer shifter column provided more leverage when having trouble getting the gears to mesh together. Today’s transmissions are much smoother and easier to shift.
Are heavy shift knobs bad for transmission?
The truth is simple: Weighted shift knobs will not damage your car’s transmission for the same reason that resting your hand on the gearshift won’t damage it. The force from a weighted shift knob is vertical and acts downward. Any other directional forces will be completely countered by the gear selector springs.
What is the benefit of short shifting?
Short shifting maximizes your fuel efficiency by keeping you out of what’s known as the “Power Band,” which is the point of your acceleration cycle when your torque and RPM are both very high and your engine is working at peak power. In general, cruising in the highest gear you can boost your fuel efficiency.
