Is Brompton good for touring?
Whether you’re cycling the whole route or jumping on a boat halfway through, you never know what’ll be around the corner. So if you want a bicycle for the city but also wish to travel long distances occasionally, then a Brompton is for you.
How do you travel with a Brompton?
If you plan on flying with your Brompton, we recommend a telescoping seat post because it allows you to remove the saddle without tools. When you arrive at your gate, cover your Brompton if it is uncovered. When you present your boarding pass to the gate attendant, ask for a bag tag. Don’t attach it.
Can you cycle long distances on a Brompton?
There are lots of Brompton riders out there who cover huge distances. For example, James H took part in the gruelling 2500km ‘Atlantic Way Race. ‘ Roger Seaton participated in the Transcontinental Race. Lots of other Brompton riders have taken part in audax rides of 300km.
Is Brompton slow?
Only a little bit of energy is required to get the Brompton off the line and comfortably moving along. These tiny wheels also carry much less momentum than full-size tires, however. With that said, the Brompton can go as fast as they are geared — just because they can fold does not make them slow.

Can I take my Brompton on a plane?
It is not possible to take the Brompton Electric’s fitted Lithium-Ion battery on passenger flights as it exceeds the 160W power permitted. However, Brompton Electrics can be transported without the battery.
Can I take my folding bike on the plane?
Although some small folders will fit inside a carry-on bag, I don’t recommend you to carry your bike on board. Here are the reasons: The majority of folding bikes are equipped with 20-inch wheels, so they are too big to carry on. Your bike might not get through the security screening process easily.

How can I Make my Brompton seatpost longer?
Tipp: If the standard or extended seatpost are just a tiny bit too short for your legs, you can rotate the pentaclip (the tiny thing holding the saddle) upside down. This will give you a 1-2cm longer seatpost. Also, different saddles have different heights, so take this into consideration too.
