Is the BMW e46 good for drifting?
Registered. The e46 is definitely a great platform to build off of, and with the dropping price, I can see them shooting up in popularity in the next couple of years. I bought my 325ci with the intention of it being a dedicated drift car, and so far, I’m loving it!

OP, yes you can drift in an automatic. You can even drift in a front wheel drive car with brake modulation.
Is the BMW 325i good for drifting?
It’s a good drift car, although you need to do some work on it, rims&tyres. Some weight reduction and suspension work. Don’t forget to change the clutch into a performance unit. That’s all you’ll need for some nice beginner sideways driving ! ! !
Is the e46 M3 a good drift car?
The e46 M3 is a great car, I have had no experience drifting one, however I have driven numerous examples over the years while instructing and the SMG is far inferior to the manual.
Is E36 or E46 better for drifting?
Even though the e36 is a superior budget drift car, you certainly can drift an e46 but the only way we’d recommend doing that is if you want to it to be a dedicated drift car and you are able to both strip a ton of weigh out of it and can weld or have access to a welder and weld the diff!
Is E46 better than E36?
The E46 suspension and chassis setup is nearly identical to the E36’s chassis. But, the E46 is a stiffer chassis over all, has a much wider body and can fit much wider tires, and has way more power. The E36 is better if you are on a budget, but if you want the ultimate track car go with an E46.

Drifting with an open differential is extremely dangerous. Attempting to drift with one will lead to one of three outcomes: One tire breaks traction, both tires break traction, or one tire breaks loose, and the second loses grip after.
Can you drift a stock E36 325i?
A 325 with a welded diff can drift really well.
