For the quarter ended March 31, 2020, Tandy Leather Factory sales are still preliminary but were approximately $17.1 million, down 17.8% from the first quarter of 2019. We were required to completely close some stores as early as March 17, and eventually closed all of our stores to the public by March 22.

Why is leather expensive?
TANNING. Higher quality leather products typically use vegetable tanning which does not use chemicals to dye the leather and instead uses natural methods of colouring such as tree bark and tannin. This takes a lot longer than other tanning methods so it becomes more expensive.
