When is head of engagement in Primigravida?
It has been the traditional concept of obstetrics that engagement of head occurs by 38 weeks in primigravida. This traditional concept is not correlated in clinical practice. In majority the engagement occurs between 38-42 weeks or even during first stage of labour.
What is Deflexed head?
A face presentation occurs when the face is the presenting part of the baby. In this position, the baby’s neck is deflexed (extended backward) so that the back of the head touches the baby’s back. This prevents head engagement and descent of the baby through the birth canal.
What does high head mean in pregnancy?

A contracted pelvis or cephalopelvic disproportion, from either a small pelvis or a large fetus, occurs in 10-40% of cases. Multiparity or a large abdomen can cause decreased uterine tone, leading to natural extension of the fetal head.
What are the signs of baby turning head down?

Your midwife will note how many fifths of your baby’s head they can feel above the edge of your pelvis. So 5/5 or 4/5 in your notes means that your baby hasn’t dropped all the way down yet, while 3/5, 2/5, or less means that your baby is engaged.
How long after head engaged does labour start?
