My problem with going NA with BEAMS is the same problem that exists with going NA with any engine, namely low torque (especially low rpm). Being used to higher potential turbo engines (both from nissan and mazda), the 3SGTE takes a lot of investment to put out what a stock NA (nissan) can with <10 psi boost kit.
Which is better the beams or the Gen3?
I would be willing to bet at low RPM, the BEAMS makes more torque than the Gen3. The Gen3 has higher output stock, is more responsive to mods and will be the ticket for the high hp numbers you’re after. That said, there is a fair amount of debate on whether a Gen3 is worth the added expense over a Gen2.
