Is Porsche Adaptive air suspension worth it?
We’ve driven PASM-equipped examples of each of the cars in Porsche’s range – and the system does make an appreciable difference to the way they drive. If you’re in the market for either a Boxster, Cayman, Macan or Cayenne, we’d suggest spending the extra money and opting for PASM adaptive suspension.
How does the air suspension work on Porsche Panamera?
There are two front air shocks, which have internal cavities, where compressed air is injected, to raise the car higher, lower it, make shocks stiffer, etc. These front air shocks have rubber bladders, where the air is injected, to achieve desired function.
Does Porsche Panamera have air suspension?
All Panameras come standard with Porsche’s PASM variable shocks; with the air suspension, the shocks’ compression rate is actually made more progressive. The air suspension system also allows the driver to adjust the Panamera’s ride height, raising the car 0.8 in.
What is adaptive suspension in Porsche?
PASM is an electronic damping control system. It actively and continuously adjusts the damping force on each wheel, based on current road conditions and driving style. The effect is to reduce vehicle body movement and thereby improve comfort in all four seats.
Does PASM lower the car?
In addition to lowering cars equipped with it by 10 millimeters, PASM shocks feature continuously adjusted damping rates that adapt to driving style and road condition. It lowers the car another 10 millimeters on shorter, firmer springs, and has firmer anti-roll bars and revised front and rear spoilers.
Is PASM the same as air suspension?
Air suspension is air shocks instead of steel, with the same computer logic as PASM on steel (their is no air suspension without PASM). The range of adjustment is wider on air (comfort mode is a little softer than comfort mode on steel springs) and air also gives you ride height adjustments.
How do you lift a Panamera?
Switch on the levelling system….Only then will the air suspension respond to the driver’s request and the required level be activated.
- Close vehicle doors/rear lid.
- Start engine and operate the brake.
- Press the High Level control button in the centre console until ]]High Level set[[ is reached (light in button goes on).

Is PASM air suspension?
A constant vehicle position thanks to air suspension including self-levelling and ride-height control with PASM. PASM is an electronic damping control system that actively and continuously adjusts the damping force on each wheel, based on road conditions and driving style.
Is Porsche PASM air suspension?
Equip it with Porsche’s adaptive air suspension with PASM. The air-ride suspension is a versatile system because of the variable spring and damper rates and electronically adjustable ride height, which can be adapted to your driving style with the press of a button.
Is the Porsche Panamera 4S with adaptive air suspension?
In a review of the Panamera 4S ( Excellence, April 2011), author Pete Stout went as far to say, “I wouldn’t consider a Panamera without [adaptive air suspension]. On conventional springs, Porsche’s first sedan feels significantly less special, less magical.”
What does PASM stand for on Panamera air suspension?
ECU or Leveling system control unit/PASM This is the ECU or the leveling system control unit. It is a circuit board with electronics, that will turn on/off power to pieces of air suspension, will monitor sensors in the system, monitor position of each corner of car. This is the brain of the entire system.
Can you get PASM on a Porsche Panamera?
Those interested in opting for the air suspension should be happy to know that PASM is included in the package. Last week we covered Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, which, conversely, can only be optioned on Panameras if they’re getting air-suspension, but can be ordered separately on Cayennes.
What should air pressure be on Panamera air suspension?
Be aware that the Panamera Service Manual does state to only use Nitrogen, not air, to fill the air suspension, and that it is pressurized from 230 to 240 psi. Always wear protective equipment, including eye protection when working on any air suspension.
