Are Nolan helmets any good?
Nolan does make some really great protecting helmets and their helmets regularly appear on our Safest Motorcycle Helmet Brands annual lists. Those scores are based on SHARP helmet test data and, although there hasn’t been a Nolan SHARP tested for a while, they always seem to score 4/5 stars (which is a great score).
Can you ride with flip up helmet open?
So on those rules, riding flipped up does not breach the law, if your helmet is British Standard 1869:1960 or ECE 22.05 compliant, but riding unstrapped does. BS alone would be quite scary as it has not been updated since 1975. So, in short. If you want to ride flipped-up the criminal law does not stop you.

Nolan helmets have been manufactured in Bergamo, Italy, since 1972. Started by Lander Nocchi, Nolan is proud of their Italian heritage. When all the other helmet manufacturers moved their production to the Far East to produce cheaper products, Nolan decided to keep their factory open and all their workers employed.
Are Nolan helmets Snell approved?
Safety. The Nolan N87 is both DOT and ECE 22.05 certified – and though it hasn’t yet been Snell tested, it has been SHARP tested where it scored four out of a maximum five stars.
Are modular helmets worth it?

SHARP also jots down if the chin bar locking mechanism unlocks during testing, which ECE doesn’t.

Are carbon fiber helmets louder?
The interesting thing is that fiberglass and carbon fiber helmets actually earned the same 3 stars for noise, and there was a half star difference for weight. And, when you get up to this higher helmet range, so much goes into making these helmets quiet that you actually end up at about the same noise level.
Is Nolan an Xlite?
Nolan manufactures all components to their helmets in-house. Nolan also manufactures the X-Lite helmet brand, as well as the Grex value line of helmets for new riders. Motorcycle racers Casey Stoner and Marco Melandri have used Nolan helmets over their careers.
