Where does the monkey trail start at Cannock Chase?
The Monkey Trail start is reached after cycling the first 3.7km/2.29 miles of Follow the Dog Trail. The trail is managed in partnership with Chase Trails. Current highlights include Monkey’s Uncle, Upper and Lower Cliff.

WALK HIGHLIGHTS: Open views whilst cycling along both the High Peak and Tissington Trails. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE: Without kids this would be a 1 hour cycle, but we took about 2.5 hours with stops along the way. ACCESSIBILTY: traffic free and mostly gravel.

Follow The Dog is a 12km loop starting at Birches Valley Visitors Centre, however the trail can be joined from various locations along the route which is a good idea during weekends as the visitors centre gets very busy with bikers, walkers and people taking part in the “Go Ape Tree Top Adventure”.
Where does the Sherbrook trail start?
Many years ago, when the visitor facilities were set up at Cannock Chase Forest, this bridleway was selected to be a longer length cycling and walking trail, starting at our visitor centre on Birches Valley.
How long is the dog and monkey trail at Cannock Chase?
Combined, the trail covers around 24km. After crossing the railway track and the A449, take a sharp right where the signs can be clearly seen. The Monkey is much more of an uphill slog than the Dog, however the technical stages are much more rewarding especially the two down hill sections at the end.
