How long can I use Hazlewood?
Yes. The law requires more than 180 days of Hazlewood Act exemption qualifying federal military service, excluding initial entry training. The law does not specify that the federal military service must fall in one continuous period.
Does Hazlewood expire?
Veterans groups have fought hard to keep Hazlewood intact, saying it’s the least the state can do to thank its military members. The free tuition benefit would also expire 15 years after the veteran was honorably discharged, meaning a child born after his or her parent left the military wouldn’t qualify.
Do you have to be a full time student for Hazlewood?
The Hazlewood Exemption does not require students to be full time however students who are also using other forms of aid such as a VA Chapter benefits or financial aid should consider taking a full course load to maximize those benefits.
