How long does the adoption process take? From accepting you onto Stage 1 to being approved, it usually takes about 2 months in Stage 1, and approximately 4 months in Stage 2. However, this is a rough guide, and it may be that your personal circumstances may mean that it takes longer.
Do you get to choose who you adopt?
Ultimately, it is up to a potential birth mother to choose the adoptive family that’s best for her baby. So, while you do not get to “choose” the child you adopt, you will get to choose many of the characteristics you are comfortable with your future child having.

How much does it cost for post placement report?
In fact, in order for an adoption to be finalized in the United States at least six months of post-placement reporting must be completed before a final order of adoption will be issued by the court. Post-placement fees range from $1,500-$2,000.
How much does a pre adoption course cost?
The cost of the initial pre-adoption education course ranges from $300-$600. Once the course is complete, families may make up the additional hours of training by reading books and completing courses online.
