This event has been cancelled Exclusively for Zoo Boo, “The Wizard of Oz 4-D Experience” will take guests from the Ford Education Center back to Oz. This beloved classic becomes a modern adventure in The Wizard of Oz 4-D Experience.

What day does the Detroit Zoo Lights end?
The Detroit Zoo closes at 4p on Wild Lights Days and the Wild Lights show begins at 5p and runs until 9p on select weeknights & Sundays & 5p-10:30p on Fridays & Saturdays. There will be no access to animal exhibits during Wild Lights.
Is Boo at the Zoo at night?

Is Boo at the Zoo Rain or shine?
$3.50 Trick-or-Treat bags are required for those who would like to collect candy. Boo at the Zoo is a rain or shine event.
Do you have to wear a mask at the Detroit Zoo?
Regardless of vaccination status, face masks are required indoors for people age five and older. It is our goal to make the Zoo experience one that is safe for our visitors, staff and animals. Guests who do not comply with the Detroit Zoo’s policies may be escorted from the Zoo.
Do you have to make an appointment to go to the Detroit Zoo?
Do I need a reservation to visit the Detroit Zoo? Yes, all visitors (two and older) are required to have a reservation prior to their visit in order for us to maintain capacity limits within the Detroit Zoo.
How long does it take to walk through the Detroit Zoo?
Plan on a minimum of 2-3 hours depending on the ages of accompanying children.
Is everything open at the Detroit Zoo?
The Detroit Zoo is open 362 days a year; we are only closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. Starting in October we switch to our winter hours (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
Do Zoo members get in free for Boo at the Zoo?
Please Note: At this time we cannot accept any free zoo admission tickets or coupons for our special events, including Boo at the Zoo. All general admission tickets for Boo at the Zoo must be timed and dated for the event. Yearly Members and Organizational Memberships do not need to purchase Boo at the Zoo tickets.
What do they do at Detroit Zoo Boo?
Speaking of pumpkins, Smashing Pumpkins will take place as part of the Zoo Boo festivities. Detroit Zoological Society Staff will provide animals with an assortment of seasonal goodies in the animal habitats to stimulate natural behaviors such as foraging.
When does the Zoo Boo event take place?
Zoo Boo will be held on the afternoons of Oct. 8-10, 15-17 and 22-24. The event runs from 2 to 6 p.m., with the last entry at 5 p.m. The Zoo will close at 1 p.m. on those days to prepare. Please note, this is not a trick-or-treating event. Advance tickets for Zoo Boo start at $13 per person for ages 2 and older.
