T440 is a direct replacement of the T430u, while the T440s is the successor to the T440. I think the T440 uses Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer for the body like the T430u, while the T440s uses magnesium alloy for the chassis like the T430s. Small correction: T440s replaces T430s, not the T430. T430 is replaced by the T440p.
