Premier grade
Premier grade is also known as Prime, Select, or A B grade. It is the highest grade of flooring that we provide. Premier grade is considered a cleaner, more contemporary look with minimal knots and variations. Premier grade Oak will usually cost more than other flooring grades.

QP1 Grading (Second highest quality) Sawn timber with practically sharp arrises, permitting wane less than 10% of the face width across no more than 30% of the length. This width tolerance is increased to 15% for sections above 250 x 250mm.
What is the difference between #1 and #2 red oak?
Select grade is the most expensive of the three, with #1 being a bit cheaper, and #2 Rustic grade costing considerably less than Select. SELECT grade has very few imperfections or character markings. Beech – D30 European Beech is a durable timber which has a straight grain, with a fine to medium uniform texture. Its main uses include furniture, boat building, turned objects, flooring, stairs and cabinetry.
What is joinery grade oak?
Joinery Grade is a QF1/2x board that is mostly clear from defects although there are some knots present and other defects. However these blemishes often make the timber more interesting than the very clean Prime Grade. Character grade is a QFB2/3x board that will have more knots, shakes and sap than the other grades.

Which is the equivalent of prime grade Oak?
As you can see above, oak grades can be pretty technical. So, rather than using the various codes, other terms have been developed by timber suppliers over time in an attempt to simplify the grading system. Prime Grade Oak is the equivalent of A/Exceptional quality. Joinery Grade is the equivalent of Grade 1 Oak.
