How long do VIAIR compressors last?
So generally the more you use it the shorter the life of the compressor. There are wear items on the pump that will fail. Its only a matter of time. Generally the Viair pumps last 3 -5 years.

What is the difference between Viair 400P and 450P?
The 400P is part of the company’s Heavyweight Series and has a 33 percent duty cycle. The 450P comes from the Extreme Series line of Automatic Portable compressors and boasts a 100 percent duty cycle. Viair rates it 400P 33 percent duty cycle compressor with a use time of 15 minutes on and 30 minutes off.
Can Viair compressors be mounted upside down?
You can mount in any direction or position since VIAIR compressors are oil-less. The only position we do not recommend is an upside-down mount, since heat tends to travel upward, and does not dissipate well in the motor housing.
Are Viair compressor waterproof?
These compressors are moisture & splash resistant, but NOT WATERPROOF. Do not mount compressor in locations where the unit is likely to come in contact with water.

Can Viair compressor be mounted outside?
Compressor can be mounted outside the vehicle if you have room for it (we suggest relocating the filter if do). Choose angle of compressor mount: right side up, sideways, or upside down (although VIAIR recommends mounting upright to keep longevity of the compressor and to avoid overheating).
