Just one mile each way If you’re just getting kids into walking The Welly Walk is 2 miles round trip with lots of places to stop. There are some steep hills to climb but they’re relatively short and the play breaks are great for keeping kids interested.

There is no fee to walk round, but if you go by car you have to pay about £6 to park. A pleasant stroll along a well made path, across the river, and drop in on the cafe restaurant for some hot chocolate and sticky buns.

The colour coded walks through Strid Wood follow surfaced paths to lead you to your destination. The green trail from the Cavendish Pavilion to the Strid on the west bank of river is pushchair and wheelchair friendly. The Strid was formed by the wearing of softer rock by the circular motion of small stones in hollows.
