Is the Icon A5 safe?
Safety-wise, the A5 fleet has had seven accidents, two fatal. In my view, with just 100 out there, this is too few to judge the airplane fairly.
Is the Icon A5 street legal?
In order for the A5 to be street legal, the outer portions of the horizontal stabilizer also need to be removed, a process that is quick and easy.
Is the Icon A5 IFR?
Our pilot doesn’t have an instrument rating, but it doesn’t matter because the A5 is not approved for IFR flight. Besides the hazard of potential VFR into IMC that any non-instrument-rated pilot faces in these conditions, our intrepid pilot may be conditioned to accept other risks.

No. Flying an amphibian LSA does not require an additional seaplane rating; however, you would need to complete a Proficiency Check for operating the aircraft in a water environment.

What is the G3X Touch on the ICON A5?
The G3X Touch adds 2-axis autopilot to the Icon A5 making it an IFR capable aircraft while also giving pilots additional situational awareness via features such as synthetic vision. Most performance and flight model changes were done by me with the avionics work coming from @davux3!
Where is angle of attack gauge on ICON A5?
Small gauge. Big difference. This instrument is unique to the A5. It simplifies flying, telling you everything you need to know during flight. Located at the top of the instrument cluster and within easy line of sight for the pilot, the Angle of Attack gauge provides an instantaneous read of how close the wing is to stalling.
What kind of lighting does an ICON A5 use?
The A5 uses LEDs for all exterior lighting. In addition to consuming less energy and generating less heat, they are lightweight, exceptionally bright and allow very sharply defined beams. Custom LED landing and taxi light assemblies are a defining part of the A5’s design.
