Is there a ferry to Georgina island?
Hike Metal of Nova Scotia built the ferryboat for Georgina Island First Nation in 1999. We request that you park your vehicle on the mainland and walk on to the ferry to save the limited space for island residents. The ferryboat travels from April through to December.

Enjoy the peacefulness of the island, the wilderness and the fresh air! We encourage visitors to walk on the ferryboat and sit in the passenger section. You will be able to enjoy the beautiful view, and avoid waiting in a potential lineup with your vehicle.
How do you access Georgina island?
It is accessible by boat during warm weather, when the island is bustling with cottagers and residents enjoying the lake and time with family. Once the lake is frozen, access is restricted to hovercrafts and an ice road that is maintained by the Band Administration and is for the island residents.

The Chippewas of Georgina Island manage 3 Islands: Georgina, Snake and Fox Island. We own property at Virginia Beach and Island Grove near the town of Keswick. Georgina Island First Nation is a signatory to the Framework Agreement on First Nation Land Management.

You can have a recreational property on Snake or Georgina islands for a lot less money. Some are reluctant to buy there because they pay to lease the property from the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation rather than own it outright.
How do you get around Drummond Island?
You can get to Drummond Island, year-round, by car ferry from DeTour Village. The short 10-15 minute trip across the St. Mary’s River is the perfect time to take a deep breath and transition yourself over to “Island Time”. The Drummond Island airport is centrally located on the Island and offers a paved runway.
