What is FAA WINGS credit?
The WINGS Pilot Proficiency Program helps pilots build an educational curriculum suitable for their unique flight requirements. It is based on the premise that pilots who maintain currency and proficiency in the basics of flight will enjoy a safer and more stress-free flying experience.
How does a pilot request WINGS credit?
When you complete an online FAASTeam course, you will automatically receive WINGS credit. If you earn WINGS credit by attending a seminar or completing an online course through third party (such as Gleim) be sure to use the email address associated with your WINGS account.
How do you get FAA WINGS?
Be a participant in the FAA WINGS Program – sign up free at FAASafety.gov. When using an online or app version of the course, obtaining WINGS credit is easy. From within the course, click or tap the “Certificates” button or menu. Select “Request WINGS Credit” from the menu that appears.
How many WINGS credits do I need?
Six credits are required each year for each of the three phases of WINGS that a pilot desires to achieve and maintain. Of those credits, some are required subject areas and others are elective. Can you fail a biennial flight review?
There are no pass or fail criteria, although the instructor giving it can decline to endorse your log-book that a flight review has been completed. A flight test (administered by an FAA representative Designated Pilot Examiner) that leads to a new certificate or rating may be substituted for the flight review.

When you have successfully completed a flight activity your instructor can log in to the FAA Safety / WINGS site and give you credit for completing the activity. When do you get wings credit for AOPA?
Many of the AOPA Air Safety Institute online courses qualify for WINGS credit. When you complete a phase of wings your flight review clock resets, and your flight review becomes due 24 calendar months from the date you completed that phase.
