What does RNAprotect do?
RNAprotect Cell Reagent provides immediate stabilization of RNA in sorted or cultured cells. Cells are stabilized at room temperature and can be stored or transported at ambient temperature prior to RNA purification.
Does RNAprotect lyse cells?
Cells stabilized in RNAprotect Cell Reagent are centrifuged, and the resulting pellet is lysed and homogenized in a highly denaturing guanidine-thiocyanate–containing buffer, which immediately inactivates ribonucleases (RNases) to ensure isolation of intact RNA.
Does RNA later expire?
Once in RNAlater, samples can be stored for up to 1 day at 37°C, 1 week at 25°C, 1 month or more at 4°C, and long-term at -20°C or -80°.
How do you store RNA later?
Before immersion in RNAlater® Solution, cut large tissue samples to ≤ 0.5 cm in any single dimension. Place the fresh tissue in 5–10 volumes of RNAlater® Solution. Most samples in RNAlater® Solution can be stored at room temperature for 1 week without compromising RNA quality, or at –20°C or –80°C indefinitely.
Can RNA later be frozen?
RNAlater eliminates the need to immediately process tissue specimens or to freeze samples in liquid nitrogen for later processing. RNAlater preserves RNA in tissues for up to 1 day at 37 °C, 1 week at 25 °C, and 1 month or more at 4 °C. Tissues can also be stored at –20 °C or at –80 °C long-term.
How long does RNA later last?
Does RNA later freeze?
RNAlater® Solution will freeze at –80°C. To prepare samples for storage at –80°C, first incubate the samples in RNAlater® Solution overnight at 4°C to allow thorough penetration of the tissue, then transfer to –80°C. Samples can be stored at –20°C indefinitely.
What are the protocols for rnaprotect bacteria reagent?
RNAprotect Bacteria Reagent Handbook 12/2005 9. Description of protocols. This handbook contains 2 types of protocol. There are various different protocols for preparing lysates of bacterial cells (Protocols 1–6), and 2 different protocols for purifying total RNA from bacterial lysates (Protocols 7–8).
How long is rnaprotect bacteria reagent good for?
RNAprotect Bacteria Reagent is added to bacterial cultures to immediately stabilize RNA. After RNA stabilization, bacterial cells can be pelleted by centrifugation. Pellets can be frozen and stored at –20°C for up to 2 weeks, or at –70°C for up to 4 weeks.
Are there different versions of rnaprotect cell reagent?
My microalgae are very tiny (1-2µm) and I have to pellet and remove sea water. RNAprotect comes in two different versions: one for eukaryotic cells (RNAprotect Cell reagent), and one for prokaryotic cells (RNAprotect Bacterial reagent).
How is RNAlater used in tissue collection and analysis?
RNAlater® Tissue Collection: RNA Stabilization Solution is an aqueous tissue storage reagent that rapidly permeates most tissues to stabilize and protect RNA in fresh specimens. It eliminates the need to immediately process or freeze samples; the specimen can simply be submerged in RNAlater® Solution and stored for analysis at a later date.
