Can you float in a jet sled?
Works well to float a youngster too. Haven’t tried that in the field, but it’s a safe bet mine are the grandkids’ favorite pool toys.

Will an ice sled float?
They float per se but depends on whats in them and how its distributed. I’ve used them to lug stuff out to a duck blind but if they are loaded heavy on any side they will tip & take in water. I wouln’t coun’t on the sled to save your stuff if you break through ice. Just my $0.02.
Is a Smitty sled easier to pull?
Smitty sled is hands down easier than pulling an otter while walking. Lake I was on had about 5 inches of ice about the same as snow and half inch to an inch of slush in some spots.

Does a Smitty sled really work?
Pulling a smitty sled is hands down easier then hauling a portable without one. Like Tinker said, I barely notice the sled at all on glare ice or hard packed snow. I did run into a week or so of 12-20″ drifts last winter. It sucked walking through it but the sled rode right over those drifts no problem.
