Should TiAL BOV be open at idle?
You BOV should be fully closed at idle. With you vacuum at idle reading -18, you should be using our Plain spring for sure. The black spring is too weak to keep the BOV closed.
How do you shim Tial BOV?
Using a 4mm allen wrench loosen all allen head screws on the top of the valve. With the last two allen head screws in place, push downwards onto the valve with a little force. As you remove the last allen head screw you will feel a large amount of force as the blow off valve spring tries to push the top of the BOV off.
Why is my BOV opening under boost?
Check the vacuum connection. The valve relies on the manifold connection to provide boost pressure to keep the piston shut under boost. If there is a leak or kink in the hose, the pressure will be uneven on the top and bottom of the piston, causing it to open.
