The Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve (HBAY) is open to the public Wednesdays through Sundays, with entry allowed from 6:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. All HBAY visitors must leave the nature preserve by 4 p.m., with the beach being cleared at 3:30 p.m. This schedule is subject to change at any time.
What time should I get to Hanauma Bay?
We prefer to get here very early in the morning, before 7 a.m., to ensure our parking spot, to see the most fish in the early morning hours, and to possibly catch a time of lower winds. So we recommend an early reservation.

This makes it perfect for small keiki to enjoy themselves and parents don’t have to worry about safety concerns (although you should still keep an eye on your children regardless.)

It’s worth a visit just to see the beauty of the bay but doesn’t really compare to any snorkeling on Maui. The best snorkeling is found on the big island of Hawaii and Maui comes in second.
