Do you have to wear masks at the Arboretum?
Mask are optional outdoors. Please know that we are committed to protecting the health of our visitors in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
Do you have to make reservations for the Arboretum?
Members please present your valid membership card for free entry. Tickets or reservations are not required. Visitors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. If you are purchasing tickets for a school or youth group, the Arboretum requires one adult chaperone for every 10 youths or students under the age of 18.
Can I bring food into the Arboretum?
Yes, you can bring your own picnic basket with food, snacks and any drinks.
What is the difference between Arboretum and Botanical Garden?
An arboretum is a specialized botanical garden that features trees and other woody plants but may also include other kinds of plants. Modern botanical gardens are usually park-based and open to the public. They are focused on beauty, education, research and the opportunity to observe and admire nature.
Can you take photos at the arboretum?
National Arboretum guests are welcome to take photographs as they explore the public gardens, exhibits, and other natural and cultural resources of the grounds. Permits are required for all photo and video shoots.
Can dogs go to the Arboretum?
Pets must be leashed at all times and must be controlled so that they do not urinate on, defecate in, or enter garden beds. Owners must clean up after their pets. Pets are not allowed in the Administration Building or in the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum. Click here for more information.
What should I wear to the Arboretum?
Visiting Botanical Gardens Your attire should be comfortable and appropriate for the season – many botanical gardens are open year-round. Wear comfortable, low-heeled shoes for walking or hiking. Expect that your shoes will get dusty or dirty. Dress in layers and be prepared for chilly mornings and warm afternoons.
Can you take water into the arboretum?
Food may not be brought into the Arboretum. Food and beverages can be purchased in the Arboretum at the Peacock Café. Please do not collect, remove or damage any natural materials including seeds, flowers, fruits, feathers or plant labels. Climbing trees or wading in water features is not permitted.
What is the difference between Gate 1 and Gate 4 at Dallas Arboretum?
Gate 4 you park across the street in a parking garage and walk across in an underground tunnel to get closer to the children’s area. Gate 1 has parking on/ next to the arboretum and the entrance is by restrooms/gift shop/food outlook.
Is alcohol allowed in Arboretum?
Note: alcohol is banned in Nairobi Arboretum, and you won’t be allowed in with any. For the nature fans amongst you, the Arboretum has plenty to keep you busy. The forest is home to Sykes and Vervet monkeys, over 100 resident and migrant bird species, and over 300 species of exotic and indigenous trees.
Are picnics allowed in the arboretum?
The Arboretum is a place of wonder for children of all ages. For their safety, children under 18 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times. The picnic area and lawn outside the Arboretum are great places to picnic. Food may not be brought into the Arboretum.
