How much does karitane cost?
This is a free service. Residential Family Care Unit operates as an in-patient service Monday to Friday. Parents need a referral for admission, from the professional who has been supporting them. Cost for parents is a boarding fee of $37.50/day; children are covered through Medicare or private health insurance.

Karitane provides support and education on the unique challenges of parenting to mums, dads and carers with children from birth to five years of age. This includes the topics of sleep and settling, establishing routines, feeding and nutrition, toddler behaviour and pre and post natal anxiety and depression.

What is purple crying period?
The Period of PURPLE Crying starts when your baby is around 2 weeks old and generally ends when they reach their 3- or 4-month birthday. This idea that it’s a finite period — in other words, it has an end — is meant to give new parents hope that the unexplained crying won’t last forever.

At Karitane, we encourage sleeping strategies that respond to your baby’s cues. Doing so will help them feel contained, safe and secure. Most babies have periods of crying which may last one to three hours, once or twice a day.
How long is Karitane inpatient service in NSW?
