What is low shank feet?
Most domestic machines are LOW shank. Measure from the bed of the machine to the center of the thumb screw (presser foot holder screw). If the length from the bottom of the presser foot to the center of the screw is half an inch, you have a low shank machine.
What is the shank of the foot?
In a boot or shoe, the shank is a long, thin piece of material between the insole and outsole intended to support the foot and provide structure.
Is my sewing machine low shank or high shank?

Is Singer Heavy Duty low shank?

What is nylon shank?
Nylon shanks, fiberglass shanks, and plastic shanks are warmer and softer than steel, but they’re still extremely supportive. Because of their specific material, they’re lightweight and flexible, so you’ll be able to move more easily with these in place.
Are all Singer sewing machines Low Shank?

Can you Backstitch when using a walking foot?
To do this, simply use the reverse function on your sewing machine to stitch a few stitches backwards, then continue sewing forwards again. You can backstitch a zigzag stitch using a regular presser foot or even a walking foot.
Are Brother sewing machines high or low shank?
