What is ruck selection?
GORUCK Selection is the toughest endurance event in the world. It lasts 48+ hours and covers over 80 miles. Participants are required to carry a ruck with a minimum of 45 lbs in it at all times. It is run by current and former Special Forces Cadre. To date, 534 people who have attempted to complete GORUCK Selection.
What is go ruck basic?
Basic event details: 5+ hours, 7-10 miles, 100% completion rate, 50 pound weight requirement. Tough event details: 10-12 hours, 15-20 miles, 94% completion rate, 50 pound weight requirement. What is the 50 mile ruck march challenge?
These challenges are led by a cadre of individuals that have served in our military’s special forces. Friday night’s challenge was inspired by an executive order that Teddy Roosevelt issued to his military: march 50 miles in 20 hours. Years later, John F. Kennedy echoed the challenge.
How often should I Ruck?
Depending on the program you’re training for, you should be rucking one to three times per week. If you’re prepping for a ruck-intensive selection course like RASP or SFAS you should be rucking at least twice per week and up to three times per week.
What is a good ruck time?
Ruck weight between 50-60lbs. Your distance goal should be 6-8 miles, and your pace should be 11-13 minutes per mile. You won’t achieve these times by brisk walking, especially if you’re short like me.
What is a Goruck heavy?
The GORUCK Heavy is the longest (and most difficult) single team event that GORUCK puts on. The event lasts longer than 24 hours and is guaranteed to be over 40 miles long. Since it was introduced GORUCK has completely revamped the Heavy event and has definitely turned it into a whole new beast.

Rucking Burns More Calories Than Walking and Only a Little Less Than Running. Add a weight to your brisk hour-long walk (i.e., go rucking), and the research shows you can burn around 40-50% more calories. So our 200-lb man walking at a 3.5 mph pace while carrying 50 lbs of weight will burn around 585 calories.
