What is the LR 2000?
The BLM’s Legacy Rehost System, called LR2000, provides reports on BLM land and mineral use authorizations for oil, gas, and geothermal leasing, rights-of-way, coal and other mineral development, land and mineral title, mining claims, withdrawals, classifications, and more on federal lands or on federal mineral estate.

What replaced LR2000?
The BLM’s legacy land information systems, LR2000, ALIS, and ORLSS, will be replaced with MLRS using a phased, modular approach. LR2000 will be incrementally phased out over the next two years, beginning with the Mining Claim Recordation Module.

What is Afmss?
The Automated Fluid Minerals Support System (AFMSS) is an internal DOI/BLM system (available to DOI/BLM users) used to track and analyze oil and gas operations. The Geothermal Resources Automated Support System (GRASS) was adapted from AFMSS to track and analyze geothermal operations.
What is the difference between a lode claim and a placer claim?

The maximum size is 20 acres per locator, and the maximum for an association placer is 160 acres for 8 or more locators. The maximum size for a corporation is 20 acres per claim. Corporations may not locate association placer claims unless they are in association with other locators or corporations as co-locators.

The LR2000 website provides recent and historical land patent serial register pages from our Status System through the mid-1990s and in the Case Recordation System (see below) after that time.
